Women's tennis tops Alabama


The Arizona State Women's tennis team upset No. 24 Alabama in their ITA Kick Off Weekend match. The Sun Devils won 4-2 to finish 1-1 over the weekend and improve to 4-1 overall.

No. 68 Micaela Hein was the first off the court as she took out Paulina Bigos 6-3, 6-3. Kelcy McKenna battled out a tough second set to win in two with a 6-3, 7-5 victory of Courtney McLane. Freshman Hannah James topped her opponent in straight sets to win 6-3, 6-3. She is undefeated in dual play. Amanda Martin claimed a victory due to forfeit. In doubles, James and McKenna were the lone Sun Devil winners as they topped Bigos and Foehse in the No. 2 slot.

The Sun Devils head to California next weekend to take on the Golden Bears in a nonconference match.
