Women's tennis make 21st straight NCAA appearance


<p>The No. 21 Arizona State Sun Devil women's tennis team earned its school-record 21tst consecutive selection to the NCAA tournament on Tuesday. The streak of 21 selections stands as not only the longest active streak in the school, but the most consecutive team selections for any sport in the history of Arizona State.</p><separator></separator><p>The Arizona State Sun Devils (14-7) will face the No. 53 Sacramento State Hornets on May 9 at 11:00 a.m. PT at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno, Calif. The winner of the match will advance to the round of 32 on May 10 against the winner of Lamar and host, the 16th-ranked Fresno State Bulldogs. The regional winner will advance to the championship rounds hosted by the University of Tulsa on May 15-20.</p><separator></separator><p>Head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-tennis/mtt/mcinerney_sheila00.htm… McInerney</a> will be guiding the Devils to her 23rd NCAA appearance in her 24 seasons at the school. She has guided ASU to a quarterfinal finish in the Elite 8 on eight occasions and has reached the Sweet 16 in 18 of those 22 appearances.</p>
