Women's tennis competes at ITA Southwest Regional


he Arizona State women’s tennis team travels to San Diego, Calif. to compete in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships hosted by San Diego State University.

The five-day tournament, held Oct. 21-25, will feature players from USC, Hawai’i, Arizona, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego State, Long Beach State, CS Northridge, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, CS Fullerton, San Diego, and Loyola Marymount.

Competing for the Sun Devils will be senior Micaela Hein (7th), sophomore Hannah James (15th), junior Sianna Simmons, senior Ashlee Brown and junior Michelle Brycki. Additionally, freshman Jacqueline Cako will make her Sun Devil debut at the ITA Southwest Regional.

Double play begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, with the pairing of Brycki and Brown facing Maya Johansson and Andrea Remynse of UCLA. James and Simmons face Deborah Armstrong and Anais Dallara of Long Beach State. Hein and Cako will be paired together for the first time Friday after a bye in the doubles round of 64.

Singles play begins at 9:30 a.m. with Brown and Brycki competing on the first day in the round of 128. James, Simmons, Hein and Cako all begin play starting in the round of 64.
