Women's swimming sets 8 school records
In anticipation of the NCAA’s announcement of national swimming bids, the Arizona State women’s swim team has momentum, both figuratively and literally on its side. This past weekend at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, the Sun Devils broke five school records and have set a total of eight ASU records on the season.
In her Pac-10 Championship performance in the 100 breast, junior All-American Rebecca Ejdervik set the new Arizona State record with a time of 58:90, well below the NCAA A standard and the fastest time swam in the event in the nation. However, it was Shannon Landgrebe who placed the biggest mark in the school’s record books. Landgrebe broke four ASU records: 200 free, and the split times of the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay.
Heading into the NCAA Championships, Arizona State is not only swimming some of the fastest times of the season, but in the history of the program.
Earlier in the season, freshman Tristin Baxter set the school records in both the 1000 free and 1650 free and Cassie Morrice set the new record in the 500 free.
