Women's swimming and diving falls to SMU


The Arizona State women's swimming and diving team fell in its second straight meet to the SMU Mustangs 142-99. The loss put the Sun Devils at 0-2. Despite this, the Sun Devils had several solid swims.

The Sun Devils started out strong as the "B" 400 medley relay team won the first event of the meet. The team, who consisted of Sasha Stephens, Sara McDaniel, Ashton Aubry and Jess Perazzo touched in at 3:49.24.

Penelope Yamauchi continued her dominance in the individual medley. The freshman from Santa Rosa, Calif., won the 200 IM, clocking in time of 2:03.69. Ashley Evans placed third in the event, touching in 2:06.87.

Aubry also won her third 200 fly of the year. The junior hit the wall in 2:01.76. Freshman Stephens clocked in a time of 2:02.55 to out-touch SMU's Petra Klosova. Stephens' fellow freshman Jordyn Green won the 200 breast in 2:19.07.

The Sun Devils remain in Dallas to compete at the SMU Classic. The event will start tomorrow and conclude on Saturday.
