Women's swimming and diving close out 2009
The Arizona State University women's swimming and diving team will host Northern Arizona and New Mexico State in the final meet of 2009. The meet will take place this Saturday, at 9 am at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The diving competition will begin at 10 am.
Zoning Rights
Three members of the women's diving team have already qualified for the NCAA Zone Meet. Elina Eggers, Brittany Jumer and Ciara Geller have all achieved scores high enough to beat the NCAA Standard set for zone qualification. It will be the first trip to the NCAA Zones for Eggers and Ciara while Jumer will be attending the meet for the third consecutive year.
Going Green
Jordyn Green has successfully avoid the sophomore slump. The Reno, Nev., native won both breaststroke events at the Mizzou Invite. With times already under the NCAA "B" standard, Green aims to return to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season.
Turning the Paige
Paige Schultz already etched her name on the Sun Devils top 10 list. The freshman is now ranked 10th in the 400 IM after clocking in at 4:20.42. She is also ranked sixth in the 200 IM.
Senioritis
Ashley Evans has had quite the senior year so far. With a win in the 200 IM at the Mizzou Invite, Evans earned an NCAA B standard. She is now third on ASU's all-time list with a time of 2:00.62. She also placed third in the 100 free with a time of 50.87.
Up Next
The men's team will host Carthage and Saint Louis on January 3. The meet time is to be announced.
