Senior guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/orsillo_danielle00.htm… Orsillo</a> led the way for the Sun Devils as she averaged 18.5 points, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals in the two wins while connecting on 56 percent of her field goal attempts. The Sun Devils received several other outstanding individual efforts throughout the weekend as Oregon and Oregon State both had their second-fewest point total of the year against the Sun Devils.<separator></separator>Against the Ducks, Orsillo (16 points, 7-11 FGs), <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/tobin_becca00.html">Be… Tobin</a> (12 points, 5-6 FGs) and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/murphy_kayli01.html">K… Murphy</a> (11 points, 11-12 FTs) all scored in double figures as the Sun Devils shot 57 percent for the game. Two days later against the Beavers, Orsillo came within a point of matching her single-game career high as she scored 20 points (7-14 FGs, 6-6 FTs). Also adding important contributions on the offensive end were junior guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/watson_tenaya00.html">… Watson</a> (12 points, 4-6 FGs) and sophomore guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/earl_alex00.html">Alex Earl</a> (11 points, 4-5 FGs). Although they didn't score in the game, two Sun Devils who also played important roles in the win were junior post <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/tobin_becca00.html">Be… Tobin</a> (6 blocks, 8 rebounds), who came within one block of tying ASU's single-game record, and sophomore guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/brandon_kimberly00.htm… Brandon</a> (6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals), who consistently disrupted the Oregon State attack on the defensive end.<separator></separator>Like the Sun Devils, Arizona (9-7, 3-3 Pac-10) also reached the .500 mark in conference play last week after beating Oregon State (62-53) and Oregon (119-112). In the latter win the Wildcats combined with the Ducks to set the single-game Pac-10 record for most combined points (231). Freshman guard Davellyn White, who leads the team in scoring (17.7 ppg), is the current Pac-10 Player of the Week after scoring a school record 39 points in Saturday's win vs. Oregon.<separator></separator>Sunday's game between the Sun Devils and Wildcats is part of The State Farm Territorial Cup Series, a multi-year marketing agreement with the athletic departments of Arizona State University and the University of Arizona to sponsor the rivalry athletic games and a special student competition between the two esteemed universities.<separator></separator>Following Sunday's game, the Sun Devils will once again be on the road when they travel to the Bay Area to take on the current second-ranked Stanford Cardinal (Thurs., Jan. 28) and California (Sat., Jan. 30).<separator></separator>Television and radio coverage Sunday's game between the Sun Devils and Wildcats will be televised live by Fox Sports Net. Despite returning six players from last year's team, the Sun Devils began the season as a relatively inexperienced group. To underscore that point, of the 128 points that were scored in ASU's two games against Arizona last season, only 32 of them were scored by active players on this year's roster.<separator></separator>• The Sun Devils are without last season's leading scorer <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/simon_dymond01.html">D… Simon</a> as she spends the season rehabbing from the knee injury she suffered in the 2009 regular-season finale at Stanford. Also missing for the 2009-10 season because of injury is junior guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/patterson_markisha00.h… Patterson</a>, who transferred to ASU from Central Arizona where she was a teammate of guard <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/watson_tenaya00.html">… Watson</a>, who also transferred to ASU.<separator></separator>• ASU has won 79 percent (62-16) of its Pac-10 contests since the 2005-06 season.<separator></separator>• On Sunday the Sun Devils will be on the road where they are 24-5 (.827) in Pac-10 road games since the 2005-06 season.<separator></separator>• The Sun Devils have won 24 of the 47 contests against Arizona since Pac-10 play began in 1986-87. The Sun Devils have won 10 of the last 11 meetings, including the last four games played in Tucson.<separator></separator>• ASU has outrebounded its opponent 12 times in 17 games this season. All three players – Orsillo (20 points), Watson (12 points) and Earl (11 points) – came up one point short of matching their respective single-game career highs in Saturday's win over Oregon State.<separator></separator>• Senior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/murphy_kayli01.html">K… Murphy</a> has connected on 88 percent of her free throws (15-17) in ASU's last 3 games.<separator></separator>Sun Devils look to remian among the best Over the last several years ASU has developed into one of the most successful programs not only in the Pac-10, but around the country as well. Since 2000, the Sun Devils have finished first or second in the Pac-10 a combined six times, and have finished lower than third only once. Nationally, ASU is one of 20 schools whose current streak of NCAA appearances is 5 or more, one of 15 schools that has qualified for the Sweet 16 three or more times in the last five seasons and one of 9 schools that has qualified for the Elite Eight at least two times in the last three years.<separator></separator>Devils bring the 'D' If there is one thing ASU head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/turnerthorne_charli00… Turner Thorne's</a> teams have become known for over the years it is defense. The Sun Devils offered another reminder of their excellence in defending in their 73-68 win over Oregon on Jan. 14. In that contest the Sun Devils held the Ducks' high-powered offense, which came into the game leading the nation in scoring (87.0 ppg), 19 points below its average. Last month the Sun Devils set season bests points for allowed (37) and blocks (9) in their 74-37 win over Furman on Dec. 28.<separator></separator>Last season six of ASU's nine Pac-10 opponents either scored their fewest points of the season against ASU or tied their lowest point total of the season. In Pac-10 play the Sun Devils led the league allowing only 53.0 points per game. In the last two years the Sun Devils have set single-game Pac-10 records for the fewest points ever allowed by a Pac-10 team (75-23 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 6, 2008) and the fewest points allowed in a Pac-10 game (59-30 win over Washington State on Feb. 21, 2008).<separator></separator>Since the 2005-06 season the Sun Devils have held the opposition to 50 or fewer points 35 times, including four times this season.<separator></separator><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/turnerthorne_charli00… Turner Thorne</a> wins her 300th match In addition to giving ASU its first Pac-10 win of the season, ASU's 64-59 win over Washington State on Jan. 9 also represented the 300th career win for Sun Devil head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/turnerthorne_charli00… Turner Thorne</a>. Now in her 14th season at ASU, Turner Thorne has collected the majority of her 302 wins in Tempe, where she is 262-160. Prior to arriving at ASU, Turner Thorne was 40-40 in three seasons at Northern Arizona.<separator></separator>While 300 wins is impressive on its own merit, a closer look at Turner Thorne's coaching career makes her success look even more remarkable. At NAU, she took over a program that had posted only one winning season in 19 years. She would go on to become the first coach in program history to lead the Lumberjacks to back-to-back winning seasons.<separator></separator>In 1996 Turner Thorne accepted the top position at ASU where she took on the challenge of coaching a squad that had not won more than eight games in three years. Fast forward to the present day and Turner Thorne is the winningest coach in ASU women's basketball history. Along the way she has led the Sun Devils to seven NCAA Tournament appearances (all in the last nine years), including the only two Elite Eight appearances in school history (both coming in the last three years).<separator></separator>Always feeling at home Since 2004 the Sun Devils have won 85.5 percent (73-12) of the games they have played at Wells Fargo Arena. In addition, under Turner Thorne ASU has also proven to be nearly as effective when it is playing away from home. Since the 2006-07 season the Sun Devils have won nearly 70 percent of their games when they were the visiting team or made a trip to a neutral site.<separator></separator>Adrianne Thomas signs with ASU<a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/turnerthorne_charli00… Turner Thorne</a> today announced on November 11 that Adrianne Thomas signed a national letter of intent to study and play basketball at Arizona State. "I could not be more excited about the addition of Adrianne Thomas," Turner Thorne said. "She is a powerful, explosive scoring combo guard who will fit in perfectly with our up-tempo offense and aggressive pressuring defense.<separator></separator>"Adrianne is an extremely tough and smart competitor who has had outstanding coaching through her high school and club programs. I predict she will adapt to the college game very quickly. Besides being one of the top guards in the country, Adrianne comes from an amazing family who has instilled in her great core values including impeccable character and strong leadership. She will be a great Sun Devil."<separator></separator>A 5-9 guard, Thomas will be coming to ASU from Summit High School in Fontana, Calif., where she has earned Sunkist League MVP honors three times. In 2009 Thomas, who has scored in double figures 32 times the last two seasons, earned All-Sunkist League First-Team and All-CIF Southern Section First-Team recognition after leading her team to the state semifinals.<separator></separator>As a sophomore in 2008, Thomas helped Summit to its first CIF sectional championship game and the state quarterfinals. With her FBC club team she was named to the All-Tournament Teams of the adidas Womanhood National Championships, Summertime Invitational and adidas Super 64.<separator></separator>"Adrianne is a superstar on the court, off the court, in the classroom and in the community," said Summit girls basketball coach Alexis Barile. "On the court she's the type of player that won't allow our team to lose. In crunch situations she's the one that pulls us together and makes sure we win. She has a refuse-to-lose mentally.
