Women's hoops defeats Oregon for second straight win
Lauren Lacey came off the bench to score a season-best 19 points as Arizona State won its second consecutive game, defeating Oregon 81-53.
Lacey was one of four Sun Devils who scored in double figures for Arizona State (10-6, 2-2- Pac-10), which never trailed and never relinquished the double-digit lead it gained after Danielle Orsillo's 3-pointer put the Sun Devils up 20-9 with 12:26 left in the first half.
Also scoring in double figures for the Sun Devils were freshman Kimberly Brandon, who scored a career-best 11 points to go along with career-best numbers in rebounds (6) and steals (2), and Kayli Murphy and Orsillo, who added 10 points each.
Briann January (7) and Dymond Simon (6) combined for 13 of Arizona State's 21 assists. January also had a pair of steals to move into sole possession of second place on Arizona State's all-time steals list. Last weekend January, who leads the Pac-10 in assists and steals per game, became the Sun Devils' all-time leader in assists.
Combined with their 61-36 win at Oregon State on Thursday, the Sun Devils won both their contests in the state of Oregon by an average of 26.5 points to even their record in Pac-10 play.
Oregon (5-9, 2-2 Pac-10), which had won two games in a row coming into Saturday's contest, was led in scoring by Jasmin Holliday, who had 13 points.
With the win, Arizona State improved to 17-3 on the road in the last two-plus seasons of Pac-10 play.
