Women's golf ranked fourth in Golf World/NGCA Division I


The Arizona State women's golf team will again enter their season as a preseason top five team. The Sun Devils are ranked fourth in the Golf World/NGCA Division I Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Sun Devils received one first place vote. Fellow Pac-10 teams ranked in the top 25 include No. 1 USC, No. 2 UCLA, No. 13 Arizona and Stanford and California who were tied at No. 20.

The Sun Devils had the highest number of golfers ranked in the top 10 Players to Watch with three. Returning NCAA Individual Champion Azahara Munoz is the preseason No. 2 golfer. Teammate Anna Nordqvist who finished fifth at the NCAA Championships enters the season as No. 6 on the "Top 50 Players to Watch" list. Munoz' compatriot Carlota Ciganda, who will join the team in January, cracks the top 10 list at No. 8. Senior Jennifer Osborn was also named one of the "Best of the Rest" on the Top 50 Players to watch. ASU, USC and UCLA led the teams ranked in the top 10 with four players from each school named on the Top 50 list.

The Sun Devils tee off their season at the NCAA Fall Preview at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owing Mills, Md., on September 7.
