Women's golf finishes third at Wildcat Invitational

With the wind in Tucson giving teams trouble in the third round of the Wildcat Invitational, the Arizona State women's golf team finished the tournament relatively unfazed. The Sun Devils shot a 15-over 303 in the final round to finish in third place at 31-over 895 (296-296-303).

"The wind was really an issue today for some of the teams but I was really proud of our girls resolve," said head coach Melissa Luellen. "I think we were the only team with out a round in the 80s."

With four players finishing in the top-25, Junior All-American Carlota Ciganda led the Sun Devils individually. The Pamplona, Spain native shot a 2-over 218 (74-70-74) to tie for sixth.

Freshmen Daniela Ordonez, Laura Blanco, and Justine Lee finished two, three and four for ASU. Ordonez and Blanco finished with in one stroke of each other, scoring a 9-over 225 (T15) and a 10-over 226 (T17) respectively. Lee shot a 12-over 228 to tie for 22nd. Junior Giulia Molinaro tied for 31st shooting a 14-over 230.

Freshman Brittany McKee competed as an individual, tying for 61st for a three-round total of 241.

"I was impressed today with our play during the rough conditions and our resiliency," said Luellen. "It makes me very optimistic about the future of ASU golf."
