Women's golf finishes second at PING Invitational
A trio of Sun Devils tied for 11th as the third-ranked women's golf team finished second at the PING/ASU Invitational, one shot behind top-ranked UCLA.
The event, held at the ASU Karsten Golf Course (par-72/6,230 yards) concluded Sunday afternoon after 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Third-ranked ASU shot a 7-under 857 (279-286-292) led by three players at 2-under 214. Jennifer Johnson (69-70-75), Jaclyn Sweeney (71-71-72) and Juliana Murcia (71-72-71) all tied for 11th.
Carlota Ciganda tied for 19th at even 216 (68-73-75), while Giulia Molinaro tied for 57th at 11-over 227 (77-76-74).
Top-ranked UCLA (291-286-279) took home the team title for the first time since 2006 and Bruin Stephanie Kono won medalist honors with a 9-under 207 (71-70-66).
ASU will next compete at the Pac-10 Championship April 19-21 at the Eugene Country Club in Oregon. The NCAA West Regional is May 6-8 at Stanford, while the 2010 NCAA Championship is May 18-21 at Wilmington, N.C.
