Water polo set to face Canadian National Team
The ninth-ranked Arizona State University women's water polo team is playing a trio of exhibition matches against the Canadian National Team Jan. 24-26 at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz. There is free admission to the three full-length games, all beginning at 6 p.m., and each will feature all the amenities of a standard match.
The Canadian National Team is currently ranked second in the world and took silver at the 2009 FINA Women's World Championship. Consistently placing in the top-five in all of the major tournaments, Team Canada finished second in the 2009 FINA World League, fifth in the 2010 FINA World Cup and third at the 2010 Canada Cup International Tournament, among others. They play exhibition matches against California-Berkeley Jan. 18 and Jan. 20 before facing the Sun Devils.
The first games that count on the Sun Devils' record will be held Feb. 5-6 at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. The first home match of the regular season is a MPSF match against UCLA March 5 at 12:00 p.m. (MT).
