Water polo drops match against Stanford

The sixth-ranked women's water polo team lost to No. 2 Stanford 12-6 March 21 in Palo Alto, Calif. Junior attacker Lynlee Smith scored a pair of goals to pace the Sun Devils (12-8, 0-3).

ASU was down 6-3 at halftime after recording one goal in the first quarter and adding two in the second. The Sun Devils added three more goals in the second half, but it was not enough to hold off the Cardinal.

Junior attacker Sarah Harris found the back of the net for the fourth time in two games, while sophomore attacker Kelsey White and freshman center Shannon Haas each scored their second goal of the weekend. Freshman goalie Amanda Young collected one save.

The Sun Devils will play in front of a friendly crowd for the first time this season as they host the annual ASU Invitational March 26-28. They will face Cal Baptist Friday night at 6:30 p.m. (PST) before playing a pair of games Saturday against No. 3 Hawai'i and Concordia. ASU will finish the weekend with a match vs. Santa Clara at 9 a.m. (PST) Sunday.
