Water polo defeated by San Diego State


The No. 10 Arizona State University water polo team lost 10-8 to No. 6 San Diego State on Sunday at the UC Irvine Invitational. The Sun Devils went 2-2 in the tournament, finishing in sixth place, and they are now 9-5 on the season.

Freshman Mariam Salloum led the offense with three goals. Junior Kelly Phelps and sophomore Lynlee Smith scored two goals each, and sophomore Nikki Unbehaun had one goal. Freshman goalie Dana Harvey collected eight saves in the game.

The Sun Devils will return to action on Saturday, when they open the MPSF conference season by hosting No. 4 UCLA at noon at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
