Volpe named Pac-10 women's soccer player of the week


<p>Arizona State junior forward <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-soccer/mtt/volpe_karin00.html">Ka… Volpe</a> been named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 24-31, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Tuesday.</p><separator></separator><p>A native of Brentwood, Calif., Volpe tied a single-game career best by scoring the game-tying and game winning goal in the Sun Devils come-from-behind, double-overtime win over Tennessee on Friday at the Lady Vol Classic. With ASU trailing 2-1, Volpe scored the game-tying goal with 13 seconds left in regulation and then won the game in the 107th minute.</p><separator></separator><p>The goals moved Volpe into a tie for fourth place on ASU's career list for game-winning goals (7), eighth place for career goals scored (16) and 10th place in points (36).</p><separator></separator>This is the first weekly honor for Volpe, and Arizona State's 12th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time. <!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
