The Huskies just BARELY edged the Sun Devils in the second set in attack percentage and points as ASU took them to extras 26-24. ASU came back blazing out of the break to hit .400 in the third set and stun Washington 25-16 to take the lead. It wasn't to last though as Washington retailiated and ASU couldn't hang in the fourth falling 25-15. Coming down to the wire in the fifth set the Huskies jumped out 9-3 with prospects looking grim for ASU until they rallied hard, but fell just shy 15-12 to open the Pac-10 slate.
Against Washington State:
The Sun Devils shook off the loss to the Huskies entering into Saturday fired up and ready to roll, which they did as they toppled the Cougars 25-10, 25-14 and 25-18 as WSU was never allowed a chance with ASU hit .284 and allowed only three tie scores and one lead change in the entire match. Sara Todorovich and Sonja Markanovich both played outstanding as they hit .556 and .500 respectively with 6 collective blocks between the two.
