Volleyball to spark up heated rivalry this week


<p>Coming Soon:</p><separator></separator><p>The Arizona State Sun Devil Women's Volleyball Team (10-5 overall, 1-1 Pac-10) will gear up for Part One of this season's `Duel In the Desert' as they set to head south to Tucson to take on in-state rivals, Arizona (11-2 overall, 1-1 Pac-10) this Wednesday, October 1. The match will be played in Tucson at UA's McKale Center at 7 p.m.<br /><br />Follow The Sun Devils Live!:</p><separator></separator><p>All of ASU's fans can follow all of ASU's home matches, and some road matches, via the free statistical GameTracker at www.thesundevils.com. In addition, video WILL be available for fans both near and far of home matches, however at this time it is not. More information to come shortly.<br /><br />Recapping Last Weekend:</p><separator></separator><p>Against #9 Washington: </p><separator></separator><p>In one of their best outings of the season, the Sun Devils came out swinging against the ninth-ranked Washington Huskies, storming ahead in the  first set to win 25-23 with a .234 attack percentage. The Huskies just BARELY edged the Sun Devils in the second set in attack percentage and points as ASU took them to extras 26-24. ASU came back blazing out of the break to hit .400 in the third set and stun Washington 25-16 to take the lead. It wasn't to last though as Washington retailiated and ASU couldn't hang in the fourth falling 25-15. Coming down to the wire in the  fifth set the Huskies jumped out 9-3 with prospects looking grim for ASU until they rallied hard, but fell just shy 15-12 to open the Pac-10 slate.</p><separator></separator><p>Against Washington State:</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils shook off the loss to the Huskies entering into Saturday  fired up and ready to roll, which they did as they toppled  the Cougars 25-10, 25-14 and 25-18 as WSU was never allowed a chance with ASU hit .284 and allowed only three tie scores and one lead change in the entire match. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/mtt/todorovich_sara00.html… Todorovich</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/mtt/markanovich_sonja00.ht… Markanovich</a> both played outstanding as they hit .556 and .500 respectively with 6 collective blocks between the two.</p>
