Volleyball to serve up some rivalry action hosting No. 18 Arizona


<p>The Arizona State Sun Devil Women’s Volleyball Team (11-7 overall, 1-5 Pac-10) take to the home floor again this weekend as they gear up for their rivalry and Gold Game match-up against the No. 18 Arizona Wildcats in the friendly confines of Wells Fargo Arena this Friday night at 7 p.m. The match will be taped by Fox Sports West and aired on Sunday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m.</p><separator></separator><p>Follow The Sun Devils Live!:<br />All of ASU’s fans can follow all of ASU’s home matches, and some road matches, via the free statistical GameTracker at www.thesundevils.com. Just click on the Women’s Volleyball schedule.</p><separator></separator><p>Recapping Last Weekend:<br />Against No. 11 Oregon: The Sun Devils came out flat against the Ducks on Friday night as they were only able to compile a .069 team attack percentage for the match which Oregon ran off with 25-15, 25-14 and 25-23.</p><separator></separator><p>Against Oregon State: <br />ASU came to play in their match versus the Beavers as they took it to five, but small mistakes caught up with them again. In the first set ASU gave up eight straight points to drop an 18-13 lead to fall 25-23 in the set and give OSU the advantage. ASU came thundering back in the second set as they hit .262 to run off with a 25-21 win to even it at the break. Things started looking up in the third set as ASU rattled off a .433 attack percentage to take the lead 25-20 before OSU rallied back in the fourth set squeaking out another 25-23 win to tie it up and push it to five. ASU didn’t have the endurance though as they hit onle .200 to OSU’s .400 to give the Beavers a 15-10 win and the match.</p><separator></separator><p>Scouting This Weekend’s Competition/Series History:<br />No. 18 Arizona: The Sun Devils will face-off against the Wildcats for the 76th time in program history as they enter this weekend with a 40-36 all-time record against the ‘Cats. The last three home matches against the ‘Cats for the Sun Devils have been nothing but smiles as well as they were three, three-set sweeps for ASU at home. In conference history, since 1986, ASU and UA have faced off 46 times with ASU holding the 26-20 record over the Wildcats and a 15-8 record at home.</p>
