Two gym Devils earn Pac-10 All-Conference honors


<p> Two members of the Arizona State women's gymnastics team were named to the Pac-10 All-Conference team announced Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/jean_tiana00.html">Tiana Jean</a> was named a First-Team all-around competitor while fellow junior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/hinkle_ashlee00.html">Ash… Hinkle</a> earned First-Team balance beam honors.</p><separator></separator><p>The All-Conference first team consists of the top six all-around competitors, plus the top three competitors in each individual event who are not among the all-around honorees. Individuals may earn All-Conference honors in multiple individual events. Scores are determined by a combination of 50 percent regional qualifying score (entire regular season composite) and 50 percent Pacific-10 Conference Championship score. The All-Conference second team consists of 10 individuals, who were not honored on the first team.</p><separator></separator><p>Jean has been a consistent force in the all-around and finished 10th at the Pac-10 Championships. In her first season as an all-around competitor, Jean scored a career-best of 39.225 and is currently averaging 38.906. Jean currently holds the team's top bars (9.875) and floor (9.875) scores and has also tallied two 9.9 on beam.</p><separator></separator><p>Hinkle has been solid on beam all season for the Sun Devils. The junior, who led the team on her three specialties at the Pac-10 Championships, has hit 39 of 39 routines during the season. On beam, Hinkle is currently averaging 9.845 and has hit her career-high of 9.9. At the Pac-10 Championships, Hinkle earned a 9.85.</p><separator></separator><p>Hinkle and Jean's performance at the Pac-10 Championships can be seen on FSN Arizona this Saturday at 8:30 p.m.</p><separator></separator><p>The No. 19 Sun Devils will head to the NCAA South Central Regional in Norman, Okla., next weekend.</p>
