Two ASU athletes named 'ESPN The Magazine' Academic All-Americans


<p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-golf/mtt/ciganda_carlota00.html">… Ciganda</a> of the Arizona State women's golf team and Elina Eggers of the Arizona State women's diving team have been named to the <em>ESPN The Magazine</em> Academic-All-American Women's At-Large Team. Both Ciganda and Eggers received third-team accolades as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.</p><separator></separator><p>Ciganda currently boasts a 3.92 grade point average in Interdisciplinary Studies. Only a sophomore, Ciganda has shown to be one of the greats among the prestigious Sun Devil women's golf program. She became the first back-to-back Pac-10 Champion this season after defeating teammate <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-golf/mtt/murcia_juliana00.html">J… Murcia</a> on a playoff hole. She received NGCA First-Team All-American, Pac-10 First-Team and Pac-10 All-Academic honors for her success on the course and in the classroom. She is the</p><separator></separator><p>In her first season of competition, Eggers carried on the tradition of ASU diving in a spectacular fashion. She was the lone Pac-10 diver to medal on each event, including a gold on the 10-meter platform. At the NCAA Championships, she finished fourth on the tower to earn All-American honors. Additionally, Eggers was named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year and set ASU records on both the 3-meter and platform. She currently carries a 4.0 in Business.</p>
