Five members of the Arizona State University track and field program will be the first to hit the road this outdoor season as they will head south to Tucson to compete in the Jim Click Multis at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on the Arizona campus. Women’s athletes Samantha Henderson and Keia Pinnick and men’s competitors Jeremy Marcinko, Austin Prince and Jamie Sandys will represent the Sun Devils in the two-day competition that will take place on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, the women’s heptathlon leads off with an 11:00 a.m. start while the men’s decathlon will start at 11:30 a.m. The second day of competition will be held Friday and will start at 10:00 a.m. with the second half of the men’s decathlon while the final three events in the women’s heptathlon are set to start at 11:00 a.m.

Last year, all five individuals competed in the same meet as well. For the women, Pinnick scored 5,017 points to finish fourth in her first collegiate heptathlon while Henderson was fifth at 4,746 points. Both Sun Devils were the top collegiate competitors in the field as the Top 3 were all post-collegiate/professional athletes. In the men’s decathlon, Sandys led the Sun Devils with 6,357 points to finish seventh overall with Prince just behind him in eighth place and 6,309 points. Marcinko was 11th for ASU with 6,151 points.

Next week, the Sun Devils will play host to the 32nd Sun Angel Track Classic. The high school portion of the meet will take place all day Thursday at Sun Angel Stadium with the collegiate hammer and pole vault competitions taking place Friday. Saturday, the finals of select high school running events will join the remaining events in the collegiate field. A complete schedule will be released early next week once the entries have been received for both portions of the meet.
