Track & Field places 30 on Academic All-Pac-10 lists

Thirty student-athletes from the Arizona State University track and field program have been selected to one of three Academic All-Pac-10 lists, including 13 that were selected as first-team honorees, the Conference announced June 4. The Sun Devil men placed seven student-athletes on the first team list with another five earning second team accolades and five more being selected honorable mention. On the women’s side, five were selected to the first team while eight made the honorable mention team.

Last year, the Sun Devils placed 21 total student-athletes on the Academic All-Pac-10 lists, including 11 women and 10 men with one and five, respectively, earning first-team accolades. Ben Engelhardt, Justin Kremer and Jason Lewis all were selected to the first team in 2009 and repeated that honor again this year. They were joined as first-team selections by Brandon Bethke, Ben Jankunas, John Kline and Jamie Sandys. The five women that earned first-team honors this year include Chelsea Caloia, Courtney Golden, Cj Navarro, Ashley Wimmer and Natasa Vulic.

The five men that earned second-team honors include Matt Boughton, Kyle Fugit, Daniel Lovell, Michael Stokes and Ryan Whiting while the women did not have a second-team selection. The honorable mention selections for the men were Ian Caracciolo, Duggan Grant, Jeremy Marcinko, Mason McHenry and Lawrence Trice while the women’s honorees include Ashley Lampley, Lisa Navarro, Lisa Nelson, Dominique’ Maloy, Cherise McNair, Brianna Smith, Kauren Tarver and Elyse Weitz.

ASU will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., this Wednesday through Saturday.
