Time changed for ASU wrestling's dual with Oklahoma
The wrestling dual between Arizona State University and visiting No. 12 Oklahoma on Sunday has been pushed back to a 6 p.m. start inside Wells Fargo Arena, Head Coach Thom Ortiz announced today. The dual was originally slated to start at 2 p.m.
"We decided to push the start time back so more fans could come and watch some great college wrestling," Ortiz said of the time change. "We hope that by pushing the start time back that more of our fans will be able to come to the dual and support the Sun Devils in a tough dual with the undefeated Sooners."
ASU will enter the dual with a 4-3 overall record while OU will come to Tempe with a 12-0 mark. The marquee match of the dual looks to be at 125 pounds where the Sun Devils' 10th-ranked Anthony Robles (19-5) will face 11th-ranked Joey Fio (11-3). The Sooners' starting line-up features seven wrestlers that are ranked among the national Top 20, including two in the Top 10. The Sun Devils have a pair of nationally ranked competitors with both ranked among the Top 10, including Robles and No. 6 Chris Drouin (141 pounds).
All roads around the Tempe campus should reopen around 4 p.m. following the conclusion of the P.F. Chang's Rock-N-Roll Marathon and Half-Marathon. Many of the parking lots and structures around the arena will also reopen at that time.
