Three Sun Devils qualify for tonight's finals at the Pac-10 Championships


Three Sun Devils qualified for tonight's championship final and five others will compete in consolation finals at tonight's finals of the men's swimming Pac-10 Championships. The championships begin at 6:00 p.m. PT.

C.J. Nuess qualified for tonight's 500 free championships after clocking in the morning's seventh fastest time. The senior All-American touched in at an NCAA consideration time of 4:24.18. Vinicius Waked and Adrian Kirkpatrick will compete in tonight's "A" consolation final for the 500 free. Waked touched the wall at 4:29.06 while Kirkpatrick came in at 4:30.10. Brandon Pierson will also swim the 500 free tonight. Pierson qualified for tonight's "B" consolation with a time of 4:37.52.

In the 200 IM, freshman Collin Gladys will compete in tonight's championship final. His NCAA consideration time of 1:48.10 puts him at sixth on ASU's all-time list.

Senior captain Steve Neuwert will represent ASU in the championship final of the 50 free tonight. The Australian native was just .03 seconds off his personal record with an NCAA consideration time of 19.84. Mohammed Madwa and Sean Boyle will both compete in the "B" consolation final of the 50 free. Madwa touched in a time of 20.40 while Boyle clocked in a time of 20.73.

Along with the events listed above, the Sun Devils will also compete in the 200 free relay tonight. The Sun Devils are currently in fourth place.
