Thomas Weber named Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for second straight week
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State redshirt freshman kicker Thomas Weber has been named the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for the second straight week, the Pac-10 announced today. Wide receiver Mark Bradford and defensive end Pannel Egboh of Stanford joined Weber as the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.
Weber, from Downey, Calif., earned special teams player of the week honors for the second week in a row for his role in Arizona State's 23-20 road win at Washington State. Weber booted the game-winning field goal from 37 yards out with 50 seconds remaining in the game. He also had four of his five kickoffs go for touchbacks, and punted for the first time in his college career, averaging 41.5 yards on six punts, with a long of 50 yards and two kicks downed inside the 10-yard line.
Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were tailbacks Yvenson Bernard of Oregon State and Ryan Torain of Arizona State. Also nominated on defense were cornerbacks Brandon Hughes of Oregon State and Justin Tryon of Arizona State and linebacker Andy Mattingly of Washington State.
