Swimming and diving prepares for Men's NCAA Championships


<p> Two members of the Arizona State men's swimming and diving team will head off to College Station, Texas to take part in the 2009 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships will take place March 26-28.</p><separator></separator><p>Diving into History<a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/benedetti_micky01.html">… />Micky Benedetti</a> will look to become one of the most decorated divers in ASU history. Currently a six-time All-American, Benedetti could potentially accumulate nine All-American accolades in his career, which would place him ahead of eight-time All-American <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/puhakka_joona00.html">Jo… Puhakka</a>. Benedetti qualified for his third NCAA Championship by winning both the 3-meter and platform at the Zone E Championships. Benedetti, the ASU record-holder in the 3-meter, also won the Pac-10 3-meter title for the third consecutive year. At last year's NCAA Championships, Benedetti earned All-American honors on the 1-meter and honorable mention All-American accolades on the 3-meter and platform.</p><separator></separator><p>First-Timer<br />Senior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/waked_vinicius00.html">V… Waked</a> will make his first trip to the NCAA Championships. The Brazilian set a new personal standard at the Pac-10 Championships as he clocked in ASU's second-fastest all-time 200 free time. At 1:34.71, Waked is currently ranked 19th overall. Waked will also compete in the 100 free.</p><separator></separator><p>Last Time At NCAA Championships:<br />At last year's NCAA Championships, the Sun Devil men placed 18th overall. Benedetti earned All-American honors on the 1-meter and honorable mention accolades on both the 3-meter and platform. C.J.
