Diving into History
Micky Benedetti will look to become one of the most decorated divers in ASU history. Currently a six-time All-American, Benedetti could potentially accumulate nine All-American accolades in his career, which would place him ahead of eight-time All-American Joona Puhakka. Benedetti qualified for his third NCAA Championship by winning both the 3-meter and platform at the Zone E Championships. Benedetti, the ASU record-holder in the 3-meter, also won the Pac-10 3-meter title for the third consecutive year. At last year's NCAA Championships, Benedetti earned All-American honors on the 1-meter and honorable mention All-American accolades on the 3-meter and platform.
Senior Vinicius Waked will make his first trip to the NCAA Championships. The Brazilian set a new personal standard at the Pac-10 Championships as he clocked in ASU's second-fastest all-time 200 free time. At 1:34.71, Waked is currently ranked 19th overall. Waked will also compete in the 100 free.
Last Time At NCAA Championships:
At last year's NCAA Championships, the Sun Devil men placed 18th overall. Benedetti earned All-American honors on the 1-meter and honorable mention accolades on both the 3-meter and platform. C.J. Nuess was named an All-American after placing fifth in the 400 IM and received honorable mention recognition in the 1650 free.
