March 27, 2008

The Arizona State men and women's swimming and diving teams placed 13 total student-athletes on the Pac-10 All-Academic teams. The women's team had 10 athletes earn honors while the men had three conference academic accolades. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and to either be a starter or significant contributor.

Two women and one male swimmer made the Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team. Senior All-American Caitlin Andrew (biology, 3.65) earned her third conference first-team academic honors. Junior Frankie Judy held the conferences highest GPA with a 4.04 in marketing to earn first-team recognition. Judy also earned first-team academic honors last season. Sporting a 3.87 grade point average in interdisciplinary studies, senior Steve Neuwert earned first-team recognition. This is Neuwert's first All-Academic honors.

Senior Lindsey Brown (Psychology/Business, 3.58), junior Amy Konowalik (Biochemistry, 3.76), sophomore Max Laney (Secondary Education, 3.33) and junior Billy Sweeney (Graphic Design, 3.45) were all named to Second-Team Pac-10 All-Academic. This is Brown and Konowalik's second time being named to the second-team. Sweeney was a first-team selection last year and Laney's honors mark his first.

Rikka Brunner, Erin Hobbs, Ilene Lesch, Sara McDaniel, Ellis Schieman and Emlynn Tursick were all named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention team.
