Sun Devils fall to undefeated Bruins


<p> The Arizona State women's swimming and diving team put up a strong fight against UCLA but were unable to hand the Bruins their first loss of the season. The Sun Devils fell 160-140 to drop to 3-2 (1-1 Pac-10). Despite the loss, several Sun Devils put forth their best swims of the season.</p><separator></separator><p>Competing in her first event as a Sun Devil, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/eggers_elina00.html">Eli… Eggers</a> swept the diving events to earn 18 points for the Sun Devils. Eggers, a 2008 Olympic finalist, punched her ticket to the NCAA Zone Meet as she earned "A" standards on both springboards. The Swede scored 295.73 on the 1-meter and 297.08 on the 3-meter. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/jumer_brittany00.html">B… Jumer</a> placed second on both diving events.</p><separator></separator><p>Two breaststrokers earned NCAA consideration times. Sophomore <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/green_jordyn00.html">Jor… Green</a>, who qualified for NCAA's as a freshman last season, clocked in an NCAA "B" time of 2:16.38 after placing second in the 200 breast. Fellow sophomore, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/ejdervik_rebecca00.html"… Ejdervik</a>, earned a consideration after racing to 1:02.28 in the 100 breast, which placed her at second overall.</p><separator></separator><p>The sprint freestyle events proved to be successful for the Sun Devils. With junior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/haron_katie00.html">Katie Haron</a> taking the lead, the Sun Devils swept the 50 free. Haron clocked in a season-best 23.85 to take first, followed by classmate <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/caldwell_samantha00.html… Caldwell</a> (23.89), senior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/evans_ashley00.html">Ash… Evans</a> (23.95) and freshman <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/landgrebe_shannon00.html… Landgrebe</a> (24.06). The Sun Devils also swept the 100 free as Landgrebe earned her first collegiate event win with a 51.83 in the event. Haron followed with a time of 52.12 while Caldwell came in third at 52.17.<img src="http://grfx.cstv.com/graphics/spacer.gif&quot; height="1border=0" width="5"></p><separator></separator><p>Landgrebe also won the 200 breast, finishing in 1:49.46, about 30 tenths faster than fellow freshman <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/schultz_paige00.html">Pa… Schultz</a>, who placed second in 1:50.16. Schultz earned a win in the 500 free, touching the wall at 4:55.88.
