Sun Devils earn preseason nods from Rivals.com


<p> Seven Arizona State University football players have been named to the Rivals.com Preseason All-Pac-10 team, including four First Team members . Quarterback <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/carpenter_rudy00.html"… Carpenter</a>, running back <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/herring_keegan00.html"… Herring</a>, offensive lineman <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/fanaika_paul00.html">P… Fanaika</a> and kicker <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/weber_thomas00.html">T… Weber</a> were all named to the First Team. Wide receiver Mike Jones, defensive end <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/davis_dexter00.html">D… Davis</a> and safety <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/nolan_troy00.html">Troy Nolan</a> earned Second Team accolades.</p><separator></separator><p>Carpenter (Westlake, Calif.) comes off a junior season in which he threw for 3,202 yards and 25 touchdowns while leading the Sun Devils to a 10-3 record and earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors for the second straight year.</p><separator></separator><p>Herring (Peoria, Ariz.) led Arizona State with 815 rushing yards in 13 games in 2007. He also ran for five scores. Herring has rushed for 2,234 yards and 17 touchdowns in his career.</p><separator></separator><p>Fanaika (Milbrae, Calif.) has started 23 games in his career for the Devils, including all 13 in 2007.</p><separator></separator><p>Weber (Downey, Calif.) was the 2007 Lou Groza Award winner and a First Team All-American after going 24-25 on field goals last season. He scored 118 points, tied for the most in school history.</p>
