Sun Devils defeat top diving foe Hawai'i

The Arizona State men’s and women’s diving teams made a splash, or lack there of, in the first meet of the season against top diving foe Hawaii.<separator></separator>On Friday, juniors <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/eggers_elina00.html"><sp… style="color: #444444;">Elina Eggers</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/bradshaw_cameron00.html"… style="color: #444444;">Cameron Bradshaw</a> each took the top spot in the one meter dive. Eggers won the event with a score of 302.50, while Bradshaw set a career mark of 386.65. Along with Bradshaw, the Sun Devil men swept the one meter competition with teammate <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/mccormick_riley00.html">… style="color: #444444;">Riley McCormick</a> taking second, 373.95, and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/blaha_constantin00.html"… style="color: #444444;">Constantin Blaha</a> finishing third, 363.05.<separator></separator>“Overall, at this time of year this is pretty good,” said head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/bradshaw_mark00.html"><s… style="color: #444444;">Mark Bradshaw</a>. “The guys are diving great and the women are diving great at some points, but they’re a little off.”<separator></separator>Arizona State also swept the mixed pair diving on Saturday, handily taking first, second and third. The first-place pair of Eggers and Blaha scored a commanding 383.65. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/jumer_brittany00.html"><… style="color: #444444;">Brittany Jumer</a> and Bradshaw finished second with 356.45, while <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/casper_hailey00.html"><s… style="color: #444444;">Hailey Casper</a> and McCormick scored a 343.55 to take third place.<separator></separator>The men once again took the top three spots in the three meter diving with Blaha’s personal best of 441.20 blowing all the other scores out of the water. McCormick and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/pasanella_chris00.html">… style="color: #444444;">Chris Pasanella</a> finished second and third with 366.90 and 351.05, respectively.<separator></separator>On the women’s side, Casper finished in third place with 301.20 to lead the Sun Devils. Eggers and Jumers finished in fourth and fifth places.<separator></separator>Bradshaw, the consummate competitor, thinks the women still have yet to hit their stride.<separator></separator>“Elina struggled a little bit. Hayley dove ok and Brittany was pretty strong,” said Bradshaw. “I feel like we maybe could have done better on the women’s side.” <separator></separator>All the Sun Devil divers this weekend made the zone qualifying scores.
