Sun Devils close out Las Vegas tournament on high note
The ASU Men's golf team closed out their first tournament in March today in 7th with a 21-over 885 (298-291-296). The Sun Devils had the fifth best final round score at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Invitational but were unable to break into the top five. Host, UNLV, won the tournament with a 5-over 869 (288-288-293). In the individual leaderboard, Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte, Rory Hie of USC, and Hudson Swafford of Georgia finished in a tie for first at 3-under par. They competed in a one hole playoff replaying the 18th hole where Rory Hie birdied and won the individual title.
For the Sun Devils, freshman Jesper Kennegard finished tied for 18th with a 5-over 221 (76-73-72) and sophomore Knut Borsheim was right behind him tied for 21st with a 6-over 222 (76-73-73). Freshman Scott Pinckney tied for 24th with a 7-over 223 (70-76-77), Stephen Gross tied for 31st with a 9-over 225 (79-70-76), and Sophomore Braxton Marquez tied for 36th with a 10-over 226 (76-75-75).
ASU will be in action again March 23rd when they travel to Tucson for the National Invitational
