Sun Devils clock in six times in day two finals
Day two of the men's swimming Pac-10 Championships concluded with the Sun Devils earning five NCAA consideration times. The Sun Devils are currently in fourth place with 157 points.
C.J. Nuess moved up two spots from the preliminary round to place fifth overall in the 500 free. He clocked in an NCAA consideration time of 4:22.87 in the championship final. Vinicius Waked placed fourth in the "A" consolation. He earned an NCAA "B" time after touching in at 4:27.07. Adrian Kirkpatrick also competed in the "A" final of the 500 free, finishing in 4:34.82. Brandon Pierson finished second in the "B" consolation with a time of 4:36.29.
Collin Gladys moved up two spots from the preliminary round to place sixth in the 200 IM. The freshman from Yorba Linda, Calif., clocked in an NCAA consideration time of 1:48.80. His time in the preliminaries of 1:48.10 is ASU's sixth fastest all time.
Steve Neuwert placed eighth overall in the 50 free. The senior clocked in an NCAA consideration time of 20.05. Mohammed Madwa placed second in the "B" consolation final with an NCAA consideration time of 20.38.
The 200 free relay team of Neuwert, Madwa, Miran Terzic and Sean Boyle placed sixth overall with an NCAA consideration time of 1:20.37.
The championships continue tomorrow with the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay.
