Sun Devil water polo falls at No. 2 Stanford, 12-6

The No. 10 Arizona State University water polo received two goals each from Addison McGrath and Kristen Wagner, but it was not enough as No. 2 Stanford secured a 12-6 victory Sunday afternoon in Palo Alto, Calif. The Sun Devils slipped to 11-8 on the year and 1-3 in the MPSF while the Cardinal improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the MPSF.

The hosts took a 3-1 lead through the first quarter before extending that lead to 6-2 at the half. A 4-1 score for SU in the third brought the score to 10-3 before ASU outscored the Cardinal, 3-2, in the final stanza for the 12-6 final. McGrath and Wagner were joined in the scoring column by Bonnie Miles and Kari Walsh, who both scored once. Defensively, Caylinn Wallace stopped eight shots while Kaitlyn Morris made one save.

The Sun Devils return to the road for a pair of conference games next weekend, opening with a noon game at No. 11 UC Irvine on Saturday before closing the weekend with a noon contest at No. 13 Long Beach State on Sunday.
