Sun Devil golfers named All-Americans by 'Golfweek'


Four members of the Arizona State women's golf team have been named Golfweek All-Americans. The Sun Devils had three on the first-team, the most out of any school, and one player on the third team. Golfweek All-American are selected by their ranking on the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.

Jennifer Johnson, Juliana Murcia and Carlota Ciganda were honored with first-team accolades. Johnson capped a spectacular freshman campaign with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships. She only finished out of the top 15 once in her debut season. Johnson was also named to Golfweek's All-Freshman Team.

Murcia finished her collegiate career with six top 10 finishes, including four in the top three. Murcia had earned second-team accolades by Golfweek last season.

Ciganda made Pac-10 history as she became the conference's first back-to-back Pac-10 Champion, along with six additional top 10 placings. This is her second season as a Golfweek First-Team All-American.

Jaclyn Sweeney was named a Third-Team All-American by Golfweek. The junior opened her 2009-10 campaign taking medalist honors at the TOPY Cup in Japan and placed in the top 10 four times.
