Sun Devil baseball to face Washington at Safeco Field
The Arizona State baseball team will play the Washington Huskies at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners, on Friday, April 3 in the opener of their three-game Pac-10 series. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. from Seattle.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at Husky Ballpark, but was moved to Safeco Field as part of an annual event between the University of Washington and the Seattle Mariners.
"This is certainly an exciting chance for our guys to play in one of the finest stadiums in the country," said head coach Pat Murphy. "Any time our players have a chance to play on a big league field, it's a special thing. We have been very fortunate to play at a lot of Major League facilities in the past, and this is just another wonderful ballpark to play in."
Safeco Field will be the third Major League Stadium the Sun Devils will have played at in the last three years, joining Houston's Minute Maid Park and Phoenix's Chase Field. ASU also has played at Spring Training parks for the Los Angeles Angels (Tempe Diablo Stadium), Chicago Cubs (Hohokam Park) and the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers (Surprise Stadium).
