Sophomore earns 1st-team Pac-10 All-Academic Honors
ASU basketball player Trent Lockett, who earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors this year after earning All-Freshman honors in 2009-10, has added 2010-11 first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors to his accolades, the league announced. Only five players are named to the first team each year.
A sophomore in Barrett, the ASU Honors College, Lockett has posted a 3.31 grade point average while majoring in business communications. He is the only first-team All-Academic honoree to earn All-Pac-10 honors as well.
Senior Rihards Kuksiks earned honorable mention honors as well. The last ASU men’s player named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team was Derek Glasser in 2008-09.
Lockett posted a then career-high 22 points in the season opener at New Mexico (Nov. 16) where two of his dunks placed him No. 2 on SportsCenter's Top-10 and finished the year with 22 points in the Pac-10 Tournament as he made his first 10 shots vs. Oregon on March 9. Lockett had a career-high 24 points vs. Weber State on Nov. 26 in Alaska.
