Softball to host Cal and Stanford

This Week:
The Sun Devil Softball squad (34-8 overall, 3-4 Pac-10) head home to the comfy confines of Farrington Stadium this weekend as they set to host the No. 14 Cal Golden Bears on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. and No. 2 Stanford on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at 7p.m. and noon. All games will be played in Tempe at Farrington Stadium. Please note that Saturday’s game against Stanford at this time only has 100 standing room only tickets left.

Series History & Scouting Report:
Since 1981 the Sun Devils and the Golden Bears have gone head-to-head 99 times, with Friday’s match-up as their centennial faceoff. In that time Cal has taken the edge in the series with a 40-59 lead over A State. Last season, the Sun Devils swept the Bears for the first time this century with a 5-2 and two 4-2 wins over the Blue & Gold. All-time against the Bears, Clint Myers is 5-4.

1984 saw the Sun Devils kick-off a series against the Stanford Cardinal, where ASU has since ruled the roost with a 40-20 all-time record against the Cardinal. Last season, ASU took a 4-2 and 6-0 win from the Cardinal before they snaked a 2-1 win back from ASU. All-time against Stanford, Clint Myers is 7-2.

The Sun Devils will remain home next weekend as Pac-10 play continues as they set to play hostess to the Washington Huskies and UCLA Bruins. They’ll take on the Huskies on Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. and UCLA on April 25 at 1 p.m. on FSN and April 26 at noon.
