Softball claims first flawless victory over Oregon State

For the first time in program history, the Arizona State Sun Devil Softball team swept a Pac-10 weekend with consecutive run rules as well as seeing <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/cochran_kaitlin00.html… Cochran</a> continue her hot streak, as she went 2-for-2 with another home run in the final game of the weekend. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/bach_hillary00.html">H… Bach's</a> complete-game shutout also propelled the sixth-ranked Sun Devils as they closed out the weekend with another victory against the Oregon State Beavers, winning 8-0 in six innings Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium. In the bottom of the fourth with bases loaded and two outs, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/boyd_katelyn00.html">K… Boyd</a> stepped up to the plate and hit a line drive up the middle to score both <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/mapes_jessica00.html">… Mapes</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/rogers_lesley00.html">… Rogers.</a><separator></separator>To clinch the win in the bottom of the sixth, Kaitlin Cochran went deep over the left center field wall to score <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/mapes_jessica00.html">… Mapes</a> before Katelyn Boyd dug in to finish off the Beavers, after advancing to third on a single in the shortstop hole from <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/donnenwirth_krista00.h… Donnenwirth</a>, a wild pitch ultimately denies the Beavers of a seventh inning. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/bach_hillary00.html">H… Bach</a> took to the circle for the Sun Devils where she pitched the complete-game shut out to collect her seventeenth career victory, putting her record at 17-1 overall on the season.<separator></separator>The Sun Devils continue their conference play as they travel this coming weekend to Westwood, Calif. to take on UCLA on Friday at 1 p.m. and then on to Seattle to take on Washington on April 4th at 1 p.m. April 5th at noon. <separator></separator>
