Sheila McInerney to be inducted into the USTA Southwest Section Hall of Fame

<p>TEMPE, Ariz. - Entering her 24th year as Head Coach of the Arizona State Women&#39;s Tennis program, <a href="… McInerney</a> has been chosen to be inducted into the USTA Southwest Section Hall of Fame. The induction places McInerney among the greats of Arizona tennis, while still active in her illustrious coaching career. The induction will occur at the Hall of Fame &amp; Awards Banquet on October 20, 2007 in El Paso, Texas.</p><separator></separator><p>Sheila has made significant contributions in the Southwest Section by developing community-based tennis programs through community centers, schools, parks, community tennis associations, and the inner city. In 2004, McInerney was honored with the USTA/ITA Community Service Award for the Southwest Section. She was the head coach of the USA Tennis Collegiate team in 2001-2002. She currently serves on the USTA&#39;s National Collegiate Committee and is an instrumental force in assisting with the organization of the Coaches Forums of the USTA Winter National Championships. In addition to her USTA work, in 2003, Coach McInerney earned her 300th win and is still able to coach a currently ranked #22 in the Nation Division I Sun Devils team to winning seasons over the past 23 years.</p><separator></separator><p>The Southwest Section Tennis Hall of Fame was established in 1991 to recognize those members of the Section, both players and non-players, whose achievements and contributions are worthy of the highest commendation and recognition.</p>
