SAA hosts T-shirt trade-in event to prepare for 'Duel in the Desert' game
The countdown has begun for one of the most beloved football season events at Arizona State University, the annual “Duel in the Desert” game between ASU and its in-state rival, the University of Arizona. In order to get Sun Devil students ready for the Nov. 19 game, the Student Alumni Association (SAA) will sponsor a T-shirt trade in event for ASU students, Nov. 17.
Students can bring any red shirt – of any size or in any condition – to the locations specified below and receive a new, free black T-shirt in return. Students can wear their “black out” gear as they cheer on the Sun Devils, who will be fighting for the Territorial Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the ASU-U of A contest each year.
For students at the Tempe, Downtown Phoenix, and Polytechnic campuses, the T-shirts will be available from 9 a.m. until supplies run out, and for students at the West campus T-shirts will be available at noon and while supplies last.
SAA T-Shirt trade-in locations:
• Tempe campus - North steps of Old Main
• Downtown Phoenix campus – Taylor Mall
• Polytechnic campus – Student Union
• West campus – Fletcher Lawn, available to the first 150 people attending the Duel in the Desert event from noon to 1 p.m.
“This is the biggest game of the year, and we want ASU students wearing their black gear and demonstrating their Sun Devil pride in full force,” said Alissa Pierson, associate executive director of alumni programs and constituent relations at the ASU Alumni Association. “The Territorial Cup showcases one of the best rivalries in college football, and we want our students to take advantage of this free T-shirt exchange.”
Pierson added that the red T-shirts collected at the trade-in event will be donated to a homeless shelter in the Tucson area.
