Robles, Ezugha named ASU Athletes of the Week


<p>Wrestler <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/robles_anthony00.html"… Robles</a> has been named ASU's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 6th. He continued his dominance in the Pac-10 by winning his second-consecutive championship at 125 pounds. Robles is getting hot at the right time, having one 14 matches in a row and improving his record to 28-2 overall. This is now his fourth Athlete of the Week award on the season.</p><separator></separator><p>Robles captured his second-consecutive Pac-10 Championship at 125 pounds as he won all three matches on the weekend, including a 9-3 decision over #16 Jason Lara of Oregon State in the final. Ranked #3 in the nation currently, Robles has won 14 matches in a row this season and stands 28-2 overall. He will compete at the NCAA Wrestling Championships (March 18-20) in Omaha, Neb., where he will try to become a two-time All-American after finishing fourth one year ago in the national event.</p><separator></separator><p>Women's track and field jumper <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/ezugha_constance00.html… Ezugha</a> has been named ASU's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 6th. Her best performance of the season came at the right time as she recorded a leap of 6.45m to automatically qualify her for the NCAA Championships. Ezugha moved into third place on ASU's all-time list. Ezugha has continued her strong start to the year, as she has now collected her second Athlete of The Week Award on the season. Ezugha and the other qualified Sun Devils will have their next competition be the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track &amp; Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 12-13.</p><separator></separator><p>With just two weeks remaining before the national meet, the rookie needed to improve her provisional qualifying mark in the women's long jump and Ezugha did just that as she won the MPSF Indoor Championships with a leap of 6.45m (21-02.00) to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
