Psychology department receives 2 new awards during March, April

Jessie Wong, graduate student (sponsor - Nancy Gonzales), received funding for her project titled, "Investigating Adverse Effects of Adolescent Group Interventions." This study will examine whether adverse effects of adolescent group interventions, which have been found in 24-29% of evaluation studies, are lasting and clinically significant and seeks to identify the processes that explain them.

Federico Sanabria was funded for his project titled, Analysis of Instrumental Overactivity in an Animal Model of ADHD."  This project will use state-of-the-art behavioral theory to determine why the Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat (SHR) emits excessive responses that yield rewards, whether it is because of physical capacity to produce such responses, stronger motivation for rewards, or abnormal response-reward association.
