Skip to main content ranks 2009 recruiting class in Top 25

August 06, 2009

The 2009 Sun Devil Volleyball season is right around the corner with Head Coach Jason Watson leading the way into his second year where he'll bring in his first recruiting class this season, currently ranked 25th in the nation in talent by The new faces and promise to add talent and drive to the current Sun Devil roster and look forward to representing the Maroon & Gold this fall.

According to Prep Volleyball the 2009 class is: "The first recruiting class for the new coaching staff at Arizona State University and it reflects a new direction for the Sun Devils: relying on speed and athleticism to complete in the Pac-10. To that end, the most important new player in Tempe could be Cat Highmark, the scary fast setter who transferred to the Sun Devils after one year at Long Beach State.  Ashley Kastl, whose brother walked on to the Sun Devil football team, has grown into her position as a primary outside. Her range has improved, as has her comfort within a speed-oriented offense. She should fight for playing time created by the graduation of OH Margie Giordano. Erica Wilson, the highest-rated freshman recruit in this group, joins the Sun Devils as a much-needed middle who can hit fast behind the setter. She’s sure to play a big part in the Sun Devils future. Alexis Pinson, a member of the dominant Xavier Prep program in Phoenix, adds size and experience in the middle for ASU."

The Sun Devils look forward to hitting the court this fall with a team packed with talent and drive and look forward to seeing their fans at Wells Fargo Arena this season as they face some of the toughest competition in the country.
