No. 4 softball claims third consecutive Kajikawa Classic title


<p>With a 15-2 win over UMKC and a 4-0 win over Texas State, the No. 4 Sun Devil Softball team claimed their third consecutive Kajikawa Classic title on Sunday afternoon in Tempe. The Sun Devils went 6-0 in the tournament to push their overall record to 10-1 while scoring 56 runs and allowing only seven.</p><separator></separator><p>The offense was lights-out in game one against the UMKC Kangaroos putting 17 hits on the board for 15 runs. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/neuman_brooke00.html">… Neuman</a> went 4-for-4 for three RBI and one run scored as she rattled off three doubles to lead the Sun Devil hitting spree. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/nesbitt_amanda00.html"… Nesbitt</a> also starred for the Sun Devils pitching the complete game, while allowing only two hits and striking out four. </p><separator></separator><p>In the final game of the 2008 Kajikawa Classic, the Sun Devils took on the Texas State Bobcats who sent Katie Garnett to the mound after her perfect game against UMKC. The Sun Devils came out swinging though, posting eight hits for four runs on Garnett, two of which were home runs by <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/donnenwirth_krista00.h… Donnenwirth</a> and Kirsten Miller. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/burkhart_katie00.html"… Burkhart</a> took the win on the game, her fourth on the year as she allowed only two hits and struck out 12.</p><separator></separator><p>Burkhart also edged up in a few records over the weekend, which include:</p><separator></separator><p>-         Tied for all-time career wins in ASU history with 81</p><separator></separator><p>-         Has 1,246 Ks, which places her 16th in NCAA career history and third all-time in Pac-10 career history. </p><separator></separator><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal">Up next, the Sun Devils will wrap the weekend with one game tomorrow as they take on the Southern Utah Thunderbirds at 2 p.m. in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.</p><separator></separator><p>Scores from Day Three of the Kajikawa Classic: </p><separator></separator><p>Northwestern def.
