With a 15-2 win over UMKC and a 4-0 win over Texas State, the No. 4 Sun Devil Softball team claimed their third consecutive Kajikawa Classic title on Sunday afternoon in Tempe. The Sun Devils went 6-0 in the tournament to push their overall record to 10-1 while scoring 56 runs and allowing only seven.

The offense was lights-out in game one against the UMKC Kangaroos putting 17 hits on the board for 15 runs. Brooke Neuman went 4-for-4 for three RBI and one run scored as she rattled off three doubles to lead the Sun Devil hitting spree. Amanda Nesbitt also starred for the Sun Devils pitching the complete game, while allowing only two hits and striking out four.

In the final game of the 2008 Kajikawa Classic, the Sun Devils took on the Texas State Bobcats who sent Katie Garnett to the mound after her perfect game against UMKC. The Sun Devils came out swinging though, posting eight hits for four runs on Garnett, two of which were home runs by Krista Donnenwirth and Kirsten Miller. Katie Burkhart took the win on the game, her fourth on the year as she allowed only two hits and struck out 12.

Burkhart also edged up in a few records over the weekend, which include:
