No. 18 women's tennis to host #32 FIU and Houston this weekend


<p> TEMPE, Ariz. - This Week The Arizona State Sun Devils will continue their sping 2008 home duel campaign this weekend as they host the 32nd-ranked Golden Panthers of Florida International and the Houston Cougars. The Devils face-off against FIU on Friday, February 8 at 1:30 p.m. and Houston on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in Tempe at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.</p><separator></separator><p>Last time out saw the Sun Devils battle out a hard match against long-time foe Texas, where it came down to the wire where freshman, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-tennis/mtt/hein_micaela00.html">M… Hein</a> was the hero of the day winning her doubles match as well as the clinching singles match to lead ASU to a 4-3 win over Texas and their eighth all-time victory over Texas.</p><separator></separator><p> Scouting the Golden Panthers FIU rolls into town this weekend with an 0-1 record to start the season. Don't let the record fool you about their strength though, they fell 6-1 to #9 Miami to kick-off their season. They also have a solid doubles team of Egle Petrauskaite and Liset Brito, who are currently ranked 17th in the nation.</p><separator></separator><p> Stalking the Cougars Houston comes to the Valley this weekend with a 1-2 overall record. After topping Tyler JC 7-0 the Cougars have lost two consecutive with a 7-0 loss to Texas A&amp;M and a 4-2 loss to Southern Miss. They will play Grand Canyon U and Arizona on the 8th and 9th before facng ASU on the 10th.</p><separator></separator><p> Series History Of their two opponents this weekend, the Sun Devils have only faced Houston and only once. In March of 2006, the Sun Devils faced the Cougars in Tempe where they took the match with a fl awless 7-0 win.</p><separator></separator><p> Up Next The Sun Devils will remain home again to host one opponent next weekend, Long Beach State as they set to face-off Saturday, February 16 at noon in Tempe at the Whiteman Tennis Center.</p>
