No. 18 Sun Devil gymnastics falls to No. 7 Huskers


<p> The No. 18 Arizona State gymnastics team fell 195.550-193.075 to the No. 7 Nebraska Cornhuskers. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/jean_tiana00.html">Tiana Jean</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/jones_beate00.html">Beaté Jones</a> both competed in the all-around for the Sun Devils. Both athletes finished with career-bests in the all-around. Jean finished the night with a score of 38.900 while Jones scored a 38.600.</p><separator></separator><p>Beginning the meet on bars, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/harris_nicole00.html">Nic… Harris</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/jean_tiana00.html">Tiana Jean</a> both had season highs with scores of 9.800 to tie for fourth overall. Suffering three falls, Jones was the next highest scoring Sun Devil with a career-best 9.500. The Sun Devils scored a 47.525 in the event.</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils fared much better on vault, compiling a score of 48.625. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/hinkle_ashlee00.html">Ash… Hinkle</a> had the best score for the Sun Devils, tallying a 9.800. Competing on vault for the first time this season, Harris was the second-highest scoring Devil with a 9.750. Freshmen <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/atkinson_mary00.html">Mary Atkinson</a> and Jones both posted 9.725. Atkinson's score marks a career high for her. Jean hit her vault with a 9.625, while <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-gym/mtt/schuett_brittany00.html">… Schuett</a> scored a 9.600.</p><separator></separator><p>On floor, the Sun Devils recorded a team score of 48.550. Jones led the team with a career-high 9.775. Jean was the next-highest scoring Devil with a 9.750 while Hinkle posted a 9.725. Atkinson hit her second routine of the night, tallying a score of 9.675.</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils posted a team score of 48.375 on beam. Jean and Hinkle were the leading Devils with scores of 9.725 each. Harris finished the night with a 9.675 on beam while Bormann recorded a 9.650. Jones posted a 9.600.</p><separator></separator><p> The Sun Devils travel to the Bay Area next week to take on Pac-10 foe California. The meet begins at 2 p.m. PT on Sunday Jan. 20.</p>
