No. 16 Sun Devils head to Pac-10 Championships


<p>This Week:<br /> The No. 16 Arizona State women's swimming team heads to Long Beach, Calif., this week to compete in the Pac-10 Championships. The Championships begin Wednesday Feb. 27 and conclude on Saturday Mar. 1. The Sun Devils will be competing against Arizona, California, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State. <br /></p><separator></separator><p>Watch The Championships on TV:<br /> The Pac-10 Women's Swimming Championships will be televised on Fox Sports Net on a tape delay basis. Check your local listings for channel information.<br /></p><separator></separator><p>Last Year at Pac-10s:<br /> The Arizona State women's swimming team finished sixth at last year's Pac-10 Championships. The Sun Devils broke five school records and had 14 NCAA qualifying times during last year's championships. That record was later broken at the NCAA championships. Andrew set ASU's new 50 free record at 22.39. Andrew later improved on her own 100 free record with her lead-off time of 49.33 in the 400 free relay. The 400 free relay team of Andrew, Beckberger, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/brown_lindsey00.html">Li… Brown</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/armour_abra00.html">Abra Armour</a> set a new ASU standard of 3:18.38. The team of Andrew, Beckberger, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/perazzo_jess00.html">Jess Perazzo</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-swim/mtt/armour_abra00.html">Abra Armour</a> broke ASU's record in the 200 free with the new standard set at 1:30.84. Last season, the senior from San Antonio, Texas set the new standard in the 50 free (22.39), 100 free (48.50), 100 back (53.68) and 100 fly (52.02). This season, she set a new ASU record in the 200 back (1:56.77) at the Texas Invitational this past December. <br /></p><separator></separator><p>Best of the Best:<br /> The women's 200 and 400 free relay teams broke ASU's current records this season. Their time in the 200 free is currently the fastest collegiate time this season. <br /></p><separator></separator><p>Rewriting the Record Books:<br /> This season, the Sun Devils have completely altered ASU's all-time lists. Four school records have been broken. The relay team of Andrew, Beckberger, Perazzo and Brown set two new school records in the 200 free relay (1:29.87) and 400 free relay (3:15.96). After clocking in a time of 1:56.77, Andrew also set a new standard for ASU in the 200 back. Andrew also currently holds ASU's records in the 50 free (22.39), 100 free (48.50), 100 back (53.68) and 100 fly (52.02).
