Nixon, Nordqvist named Athletes of the Week

Anna Nordqvist (women's golf) and linebacker Mike Nixon (football) have been chosen as the Arizona State University Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 18. Both gave exceptional performances in their respective sports over the weekend.

Nixon was a bright spot on Saturday in Arizona State's tough fall to Southern California. The junior linebacker had a sack, an interception and eight tackles against the Trojans.

Nordqvist placed second over the weekend at the 2008 World Amateur Team Championship in Adelade, Australia. The junior standout shot 9-under 281 (70-68-74-69) and led her home country, Sweden, to win the tourney.
