Munoz shines day one of Nabisco Kraft Championship


Reigning NCAA Women's Golf Individual Champion, Azahara Munoz, got off to a stellar start at the Kraft Nabisco Invitational. The LPGA event, held at the par-72 6,673-yard Mission Country Club in Rancho Mirage Calif. Finishing the day with a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole, the senior All-American shot a 1-under 71 in round one. She is currently in a 12-way tie for 18th. Munoz was one of five amateurs to earn an exemption.

Jennifer Johnson, who has signed a letter of intent to play for the Sun Devils next season, shot a 5-over 77. Former Sun Devils also competing include Jimin Kang (1-under 71), Wendy Ward (3-over 75) and Grace Park (4-over 76).

The ASU women's golf team, minus Munoz, will tee off tomorrow at the PING/ASU Invitational.
