Mike Nixon named Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week


<p>Arizona State University senior linebacker <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/nixon_mike00.html">Mike Nixon</a> has been named the Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.</p><separator></separator><p>Nixon (Phoenix, Ariz.) intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown, collected four tackles and blocked a punt in the Sun Devils 50-3 win over Idaho State on Saturday. He also recorded half a tackle for loss and broke up a pass for the ASU defense, which limited Idaho State to only 37 yards of total offense.</p><separator></separator><p>Arizona State will receive $1,000 for its general scholarship fund in recognition of Nixon's accomplishment.</p><separator></separator><p>Nixon, who was also named Pacific-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, now has eight career interceptions, after tying for the Pac-10 lead in 2008 with five picks.<!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
