Mike Nixon named Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week

September 08, 2009

Arizona State University senior linebacker Mike Nixon has been named the Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Nixon (Phoenix, Ariz.) intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown, collected four tackles and blocked a punt in the Sun Devils 50-3 win over Idaho State on Saturday. He also recorded half a tackle for loss and broke up a pass for the ASU defense, which limited Idaho State to only 37 yards of total offense.

Arizona State will receive $1,000 for its general scholarship fund in recognition of Nixon's accomplishment.

Nixon, who was also named Pacific-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, now has eight career interceptions, after tying for the Pac-10 lead in 2008 with five picks.
