Micky Benedetti named Pac-10 Diver of the Meet
With a sweep at the Pac-10 Diving Championships, Sun Devil diver Micky Benedetti has been named Diver of the Meet at the Pac-10 Championships. Benedetti has proven to not only be one of the best divers Arizona State has ever seen but also one of the top divers in Pac-10 history. The junior All-American became the first diver in ASU's prestigious diving program to win all three events after missing out on the trifecta by one event last season. He is the eighth Pac-10 diver to accomplish this remarkable feat and the first since 2002.
Benedetti, who was last year's NCAA runner-up in the platform, scored 434.70 to break both the school and Pac-10 record and defend his Pac-10 title. Benedetti won the one meter with a score of 366.20 and posted 398.85 to take home the three meter crown. Benedetti, who was last year's NCAA runner-up in the platform, scored 434.70 to break his own personal record and defend his Pac-10 title.
Benedetti and his diving teammates will head to Oklahoma City in two weeks to compete in the Zone E Championships. Last season, Benedetti won the platform at the Zone E Championships. The meet begins March 13 and will conclude March 15.
